How Does the Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star Program Work?
The Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star program helps pay for up to $2,000 of home improvements when you meet the eligibility requirements. The program is administered through the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) and funded by your utility company. Income limits depend on how many people live in your home, and they are updated every year. To apply for the Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star program, contact Central Heating & Cooling, Inc., and one of our technicians will walk you through the process and help you submit an application.
What kind of home improvement services will qualify for the Assisted Home Performance program?
There are a variety of services that will meet the requirements for this program. Some examples include:
- Replacing your inefficient heating/cooling equipment
- Upgrading your hot water systems to a newer, highly efficient model.
- Opting for Energy Star appliances.
The qualifying home improvement service must pay for itself in 10 years through utility savings. Your upgrades will be assessed through an audit process to ensure that contractors aren’t overcharging and that the utility company remains well-protected against homeowners opting for home improvements that don’t increase the savings on the utility bill.
