FEDERAL TAX CREDITS
On December 17, 2010, President Obama signed the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. This law extends the tax credits for energy efficiency into 2011, BUT at lower levels than the previous year.
The highlights are:
- The federal tax credit program from previous years has been extended to 2011.
- The tax credit has been adjusted to 10% of the cost of improvement.
- The tax credits are for a specific dollar amount (ex. $150 for a 95% furnace or higher).
- The lifetime maximum credit has been adjusted to $500 (for the total period from 2006-2011).
- Effective on installations from Jan 1st, 2011 to Dec 31st 2011.
- See your Tax Advisor for details (Use IRS Tax Form 5695)
